“These deep fried dishes are loaded with fat and sodium,” Kupferman says. On average, a meal like this could cost you 1,000 calories in one sitting, she notes.
Eat Smart Entree: Tilapia Baked in “Banana Leaf”
This healthy pick includes tomatoes, plantains, and a fruit beuure (chopped tropical fruit). “It’s the most natural, basic ingredients baked together.” And no need to worry about the sugar in the fruit. “Natural fruit sugars are extremely healthy,” she said. It’s the high-fructose corn syrup and processed sugars that should be of concern.
