Join thousands of individuals, community groups and businesses across the country as the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association present National Walking Day, Wednesday, April 1st, 2015.

Being inactive doubles the risk of heart disease and stroke, the #1 and #5 killers of men and women, respectively. By joining National Walking Day, individuals and businesses can help save the lives of millions of Americans while personally taking a giant step toward a healthy lifestyle.

The American Heart Association recommends 30 minutes of moderate aerobic activity five days a week, or 25 minutes of rigorous activity three days a week, combined with strength training twice a week. For children, the recommendation is 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity daily.
