This Independence Day, get tipsy without drying yourself out. While liquor is always dehydrating, you can choose cocktails that taste great and actually boost your overall hydration. An adult’s hydration requirement actually doubles during the summer, so you have to pay extra attention in the warmer months. We’ve got some great recipes for hydrating cocktails that will actually help to hit your water intake quota. Of course, moderation is still key when there’s alcohol involved!
While we wouldn’t say any cocktail is exactly super healthy, these July 4th cocktails are made with fresh fruit juices and are as close as you can get to drinking healthily. Kill two birds with one straw and stay hydrated while enjoying a cocktail.

This cocktail, formulated by 18 & Greene Steakhouse at Los Suenos Marriot Ocean & Golf Resort, features Absolut vodka, basil, and strawberry. 2 ounces of vodka
2 basil leaves
1 ounce of strawberry juice*
2 lime wedges
Use a muddler to crush the lime and basil in order to release natural oils. Mix the crushed lime wedges and basil into the shaker with strawberry juice, ice, and vodka. Shake well, serve in a martini glass and enjoy.
