Bored with the same workout? Feel the burn–and have fun doing it–by combining your favorite fitness classes.

Changing up your go-to fitness routine allows you to see faster and better results. But, we get it, it’s hard to let your favorite classes go. Which is why fusion classes—which combine moves from several different fitness disciplines—may just be the perfect solution. Keep your muscles guessing—and growing—by fusing together your favorite fitness routines with these fusion fitness classes.

Aerial Yoga

Aerial Yoga

Take yoga to the next dimension with this class that combines traditional poses, breathing, and balance with muscle strengthening acrobatic movements that are easy to master, even for a beginner. Using your body weight and a hammock you’ll lift, pull and push while lengthening and strengthening your upper body, lower body, and core. “The inversions you can do with the hammock are very therapeutic,” said Emilie Bromley, who teaches the class at AntiGravity in Naples. “The mind-body exercise is such a magnet for today’s fitness person,” Bromley said. Channel your inner Pink with this fun full body workout. (Try the Suspension Fitness Class for a larger focus on the acrobatics.)

Pure Barre

Pure Barre

This class—set to a mix of your favorite dance tunes—combines Pilates, yoga, and small isometric movements performed at a barre. The work targets your thighs, core, and arms, which will be screaming by the end of class! “It’s an intense, athletic workout, but what is beautiful about the technique is that it’s for everyone because the exercises don’t incorporate any fast, explosive, large movements,” says Olga Metzler, an instructor at PureBarre in Naples. This class is ideal for all ages and fitness levels, and even safe to do throughout pregnancy. “You really shape your body. It’s more than just a workout…we really share a sense of community where we inspire and really empower each other to our fitness goals,” Metzler said.

Piloxing

Kick your metabolism into high gear with this class that combines Pilates, dance, and boxing moves to motivating music. Break a sweat in a fun, fresh way, while burning 500-900 calories per one-hour class. “Adding boxing just gives you that more intense cardio workout and that’s going to increase your calorie burning [in the form of] interval training, which [increases] metabolism even longer after class,” said Erica Carroll former instructor at Brickhouse Cardio Club in Cape Coral. Because you’re engaging every muscle group, results can be seen in as little as two weeks. “I think that it’s also really good [for] stress management and relaxation—even though it’s high intensity, you’re still getting a really good health benefit from the workout. You feel like you had a good time,” Carroll added.

“Your body gets used to working out one way. When you throw something different into the mix…you’re tricking your body—but for the good—and you’re working muscles that aren’t used to be worked,” said Carroll.

Beat boredom with your regular routine by trying out these classes, and continue to make this year your fittest year yet!
